[PH Case Study] Extending the Lifespan of Aluminum Die Casting Molds

Solving the issue of increased mold replacement frequency due to heat cracks and melting!

We would like to introduce a case where issues related to heat checks and melting, which are the main forms of damage to aluminum die-casting molds, were resolved through composite surface treatment. By using ultra-precision peening with minimal changes in surface roughness and without generating a compound layer, we suppressed the occurrence and progression of heat cracks. It is possible to improve aluminum attack resistance with a highly heat-resistant PVD coating film. [Case Summary (Partial)] ■Challenges and Background Faced by the Customer - Increased frequency of mold effectiveness due to heat cracks and melting - Increased costs for mold replacement work and mold manufacturing due to production line stoppages ■Our Solution - Changed from TiAl-based PVD coating film to composite surface treatment plasma hard - Achieved a reduction in melting and heat cracks, resulting in a mold lifespan that is over four times longer *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Ryoko Seiki Co., Ltd. Business Introduction

For the production of parts for aluminum casting molds, trust Wakazono Seiki!

Wakazono Seiki Co., Ltd. has been engaged in various iron cutting processes, starting with molds, for 50 years since its establishment in 1963. The mold production, which began with GC molds, has evolved to LP molds due to changes in the times and needs, and now the technology has advanced to DC molds. Additionally, we actively incorporate the latest technologies and equipment, such as being the first in Gifu Prefecture to introduce HERMLE. Effective design using CAM-TOOL is also one of Wakazono Seiki's strengths. Furthermore, each engineer at Wakazono Seiki operates their assigned machines, taking responsibility for product development. Utilizing the iron cutting technology cultivated over 50 years, along with 11 high-speed machines including HERMLE and the latest technologies like CAM-TOOL, we have achieved the ability to produce mold components that balance high speed and high quality. For various mold production, especially for die-cast mold components (inserts, cores, dies), please leave it to Wakazono Seiki. For more details, please contact us or refer to our catalog.
